Gallery Desert House May Be Invite-Only, But We’ve Got the Inside Scoop

Welcome (back) to the desert! As influencers, artists and musicians flocked to California for festival season, we set up shop in Indio for our second year at Gallery Desert House.

Two weekends. Two festivals. Plenty to celebrate. We packed the place with a slew of events, partners and our favorite celebrities and tastemakers—including DJ Diplo, Kyle Cooke of Summer House and Joey Graziadei of The Bachelor. Guests came together for the celebrations, which also included plenty of rest, relaxation and recharging to keep the party going. Here, a closer look at the exciting lineup at this year’s Gallery Desert House.

Partygoers Got Festival Glam with Seaswept

We kicked off Coachella weekend with the Josh Cellars Seaswept pre-game that energized guests and set the tone for the evening ahead. With a high-energy DJ, professional hair and makeup touch-ups and a glam rhinestone station, it was a golden hour party not to be missed, with the perfect wine to chill out from the heat. Seaswept, a refreshing combination of sauvignon blanc and pinot grigio, was also available throughout both festival weekends.

High Noon Hosted a High Tea Party

This High Tea Party put a twist on the traditional English tea service with a DJ set and plenty of opportunities to try High Noon Vodka Iced Tea—a non-carbonated hard tea made with real vodka, real iced tea and no added sugar. Guests like TygaBrianna Lapaglia, Chase Demoor, and Mark Estes all stopped by to hang by the pool and join in the revelry. High Noon Vodka Iced Tea was served throughout both festival weekends for attendees to discover their favorite of the four flavors: Original, Peach, Lemon and Raspberry.

There’s No Party Like a PATRÓN Party

Chad Salvador/Shutterstock for Gallery Media Group

PATRÓN brought the #PATRONDESERT to life across both festival weekends, serving up their high-end luxury tequila in new, pocket-sized bottles dubbed the PATRÓN EL ALTO minis. They hosted three stand-out events, kicking off the weekend with the Cowgirl Cookout in partnership with acclaimed country artist Nikki Lane, which welcomed headlining talent and featured a fireside performance by Sierra Ferrell. This was followed by the ultimate after-party Saturday night, PATRÓN’s Last Call Saloon, with musical sets from Dustin Lynch, Super Drew and Tucker Wetmore. PATRÓN closed out the weekend with the Swimsuits & Cowboy Boots Pool Party in partnership with Desert 5 that included epic performances from the Midnight Cowgirls, Nikki Lane, and Dasha.

The Raw Sugar Roundup Was the Place to Be

Vegan haircare Raw Sugar hosted GRWM events Friday through Sunday with dry styling services that featured some of their hero products like the Multi-Miracle Hair Mist, Not So Dry Shampoo and Endless Hair Glow Oil. Well-known faces like Katie Austin stopped by the event, and guests were also treated to rejuvenating scalp massages, vegan snacks and refreshing juices.

No Cowboy Boots? No Problem

Guests of Gallery Desert House had the opportunity to sample and shop from three ABG footwear brands throughout the weekend: Vince Camuto, Frye and Hunter Boots. Our Wellness Wake-Up Bar treated them to refreshing beverages, a yoga class hosted by Claire Fountain, and access to an exclusive styling pop-up featuring Vince Camuto’s hottest selection of shoes and handbags. The Strut & Style GRWM party presented by Frye had attendees crafting a signature look, featuring Frye’s newest boot styles and custom boot bling. Finally, The Hunter Outpost was open for shopping the latest styles from Hunter Boots any time throughout the weekend.

Becca Moore Hosted a Live Pod and Pool Party

Jennifer Johnson/Shutterstock for Gallery Media Group

No connection was left unexplored at Gallery Desert House, thanks to Spectrum’s No Missed Connections event. The brand, who sponsored our internet and high-speed WiFi for the whole weekend, also powered a live taping of the infamous ‘For the Girls’ podcast with host Becca Moore and surprise guest, Charity Lawson. After the pod? A high-energy pool party hosted by Becca with DJ Layla Johnson, complete with a lounge for recharging (your phone and yourself).

Palmer’s Kept Us Glowing All Weekend

An essential beauty pit stop, the Palmer’s Glow Outpost allowed guests to experience the illuminating, all-over glow of Cocoa Butter Formula Shimmer Radiance Body Oil and the luxurious moisture of the decadently scented Tahitian Vanilla Body Lotion. They even took their looks to the next level with DIY face gems. It was the perfect stop to hydrate, shine and snap a standout festival look.

U by Kotex Kept Us Prepared

U by Kotex’s Period Pit Stop ensured guests were not only fully equipped for the weekend with festival-ready products, but also allowed them to customize a Festival Fanny Pack with adorable bag charms. And, thanks to U by Kotex products being fully stocked in all Gallery House bathrooms, guests could truly enjoy a worry-free weekend.

And Our Gifting Oasis Just Kept on Giving

Thanks to our incredible partners, we were able to stock a whole suite of products for the guests of Gallery Desert House. This included stellar sun protection from brands like Bioré UV Aqua Rich Daily Moisturizer SPF 50 and Native Sunscreen, and beverages from Recess and Molson Coors (Peroni, Blue Moon, Topo Chico) to beat the 100 degree heat. Other partners included: Vacation, Hero Cosmetics, Ellis Brooklyn, Sacheu, Blobs Candy and Moon Brew.

Expecting Your Period While on Vacation? Here’s What to Pack

If you’ve ever flipped through a teen magazine from the early 2000s, you’ve probably read a story about an unexpected period. Perhaps while lounging poolside or—heaven forbid—in front of a crush! We cringed then, but times have changed ladies. Mindful menstruation is on the rise and it’s empowering (dare we say, downright cool) to have your period. Yet even if there’s no shame in the PMS game, getting your period on vacation, or when you least expect it, can sometimes be the pits.

Thankfully, there are a few things you can do to prepare. First, tracking your period is an excellent way to plan when you’re going on vacation so you can predict exactly when it may begin (all jokes aside, there really is nothing worse than a surprise). It might help you in other ways too, such as understanding different physical symptoms, changes in mood and emotional waves. Another way to prepare for traveling on your period is by knowing exactly what period products work best for you and making sure you pack plenty. Here are two from U by Kotex that come highly recommended and make excellent period companions.

1. U by Kotex® Click® Tampons

2. U by Kotex® Balance™ Pads

All Your Favorite Artists, Brands and DJs in the Heart of Miami: Welcome to Gallery Art House

Not many cities can strike the perfect balance of revelry and serenity like Miami can. And there’s a reason why cutting-edge entrepreneurs, innovators and the world’s most forward-thinkers all find themselves there at the start of December: Art Basel.

One of the most highly anticipated weeks on the global art and social calendar, the festival transforms the city into a playground for artists, celebrities and influencers alike. This year, we joined in on the fun with the second installment of Gallery Art House—our traveling creator house bringing brands, community and the coolest cultural moments together. Here’s a snapshot of what went down at Gallery Art House weekend.

Batsheva Haart Tested Maybelline’s New Teddy Tint

Gallery Art House kicked off with an epic Thursday night. We pulled out all the stops for Maybelline’s ‘Teddy After Dark’ party—from beats by DJ Millie and gummy bear martinis to the fluffy pink scenery (hello, massive teddy bear). The event, which celebrated the launch of Maybelline Super Stay Teddy Lip Tint, was a night with moments as bold as the art scene. But the most notable takeaway from the evening? How long the new lip tint lasted on our guests.

Everyone was able to test the formula, which comes in 10 buildable shades, thanks to our fully stocked, grab-n-go product wall. As influencers—including the likes of Batsheva Haart and Vale Genta—sipped their cocktails, they could see just how wearable Teddy Tint really is. The TL;DR? With up to 12 hours of staying power, this soft matte lippie is the perfect accessory for all day and night wear. Maybelline Super Stay Teddy Tint is available exclusively at Ulta Beauty (in stores and online) and will be available nationally starting December 26.

Guests Were Transported by Scent at method’s Brunch

method welcomed guests back the next morning with their ‘in your wildest dreams’ brunch to celebrate the launch of the new foaming body wash line, dream foam. Guests, including Rachel Recchia and Brigette and Danielle Pheloung, were invited to immerse themselves in a transformative dream world, right in the heart of the Miami Art District. The sensorial and socially shareable event featured a four-course brunch inspired by each products scent, color palette, and foamy texture with food artistry from Emilie Baltz, as well as life-size displays allowing guests to step inside the worlds of each new method dream foam scent. Brunch attendees also received exclusive silk head scarves from artist Tyler Spangler.

PATRÓN Brought Montauk to Miami for an Epic Party

As the sun set the spotlight shifted to PATRÓN Tequila, who made a splash at Gallery Art House by bringing the iconic party series ‘Shark Attack Sounds’ from Montauk to Miami. Hosted by the legendary photographer Ben Watts, the redux included sounds from Dombresky and Zillamatic, whose high-energy set kept the party going. Watts also showcased his vibrant photography, giving attendees a chance to take home a piece of the evening by purchasing exclusive prints.

A PATRÓN customization station added a bespoke touch, offering guests the chance to etch a classic Miami palm tree design onto exclusive PATRÓN Collector’s Cups. Notable guests included NFL stars like Braxton Berrios and Jaelan Phillips and reality TV icons such as Jason Tartick, Peter Weber and Dale Moss from ABC’s The Bachelor.

Ulta Beauty Provided the Glam

VIP attendees, including beauty influencers and celebrities, were invited to start their day with pre-glam appointments at Ulta Beauty’s House of Joy, ensuring they looked their absolute best for the day’s festivities. Notable appearances included TikTok star Olivia Ponton, former gymnast Laurie Hernandez, and reality stars like Brittany Wisniewski and Leo Braudy from Netflix’s Love Is Blind. However, the true stars of the event were the complimentary styling stations. Once brunch kicked off, Ulta Beauty’s Pro and elite hairstylists and makeup artists worked their magic, offering touch-up services like Sparkle and Glow Cheeks and a Polished Ponytail. Guests were also gifted products from coveted brands like Hourglass, OUAI and NARS.

INFINITI Celebrated the Weekend in Luxury

https://www.infinitiusa.com/

The star of the final evening was undoubtedly the all-new 2025 INFINITI QX80—which was posted at the front of the venue for all to admire—and the INFINITI QX60. Not only were attendees able to see firsthand the vehicles’ sophisticated craftsmanship and customizable features, but INFINITI also chauffeured some of the guests to dinner in luxurious style.

Music by DJ Toneyhandsome and host Preston Konrad welcomed innovators, creators and tastemakers from the worlds of luxury and design and highlighted the theme of the evening: individuality and personal expression. “True luxury isn’t just about the way something looks—it’s about how it makes you feel,” says Preston. “The INFINITI QX60 and all-new 2025 INFINITI QX80 bring this concept to life with their thoughtful materials, luxurious finishes and features designed to adapt to your needs.”

St. Jude Collaborated for a Good Cause

At this year’s Gallery Art House, guests contributed to St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital by making a minimum donation—and in return—collaborating on a large-scale piece of artwork with local Miami artist, JC Rivera. Following the event, the completed art piece and all donations were sent directly to St. Jude.

The Hottest Accessory Was the Gatorade Hydration Booster

Gatorade also made a splash, as guests lined up to sample their new Hydration Booster, your new hydration bestie while on-the-go that’s packed with electrolytes and vitamins. To amplify their hydration game, attendees customized a branded stainless-steel bottle with decorative charms and beads. The perfect Basel accessory for gallery hopping.

Our Beauty Editors Have Tried a Million Lip Products—Here’s One That’s Topping Their List of Favorites

In our quest to always bring you the products that are actually worth it, our beauty editors have tested too many lip products to count. Most are middling at best—chalky, sticky, drying—so whenever we come across one that passes the wear test (which basically boils down to “does it look and feel good after hours of sipping and snacking”) we feel a civic duty to share it with people.

Maybelline’s Super Stay Teddy Tint™ not only passed our test, it officially took a cushy lead as one of our favorite products of the moment. Speaking of cushy, it’s the first thing you’ll notice when swiping on this liquid lip tint. No, seriously, the formula feels so light—the team used the word “plush”—and initially goes on sheer. But you can quickly go from sheer to blurred to bold in just three swipes. Here’s everything you need to know about this must-have lip tint.

What Is Super Stay Teddy Tint?

In short, Super Stay Teddy Tint is Maybelline’s newest product in the Super Stay collection. What separates it from the rest of the pack is its texture: a mousse-like, liquid formula that the brand refers to as “teddy soft.” The lip tint has a soft applicator designed for both lips and cheeks; we found it relatively easy to fill in lips without straying outside the lines.

As we mentioned, the first initial swipe goes on sheer. But one more coat, and it dries down to that coveted blurred-matte look of the Gen Z set. Three coats and you’ve got a seriously bold pout. Herein lies the one drawback of this lip tint (which may not even be a drawback, depending on your priorities): You’ll want to give it some time to fully set. So, if you’re a habitual coffee sipper, consider this your fair warning. After the initial application, wait 10 to 15 minutes and you’re golden…for 12 whole hours. Yes, that’s right. That bold matte lip you start off with in the morning will remain that exact same way over the course of the day.

Maybelline
$13

Another thing we appreciate about the lip tint is that it doesn’t leave our lips looking like a shriveled prune. The formula stays smooth and comfortable for a long while, and when we want to refresh the color, we just add another layer. It’s incredibly buildable (you can even mix the colors).

Maybelline Super Stay Teddy Tint is currently available in ten shades from “Mascara Tear,” a ’90s pinky-brown to “Wild at Heart,” a rich burgundy. But our personal favorite is “Current Mood,” which is a neutral pink that looks good on nearly anyone. You can find it at Ulta Beauty (in-store and online) and it will be available nationally starting December 26.

The Bottom Line?

This lip tint is the one you’d reach for when you want your trendy matte color to go the extra mile. It’s made to layer and fits any mood, so wear it when you want to blend in or be seen. Either way, the super soft feel will last all day.

The ultra-plush, oversized applicator evenly slicks on nourishing apricot oil and a sheer wash of color to enhance your natural pout. Think: your lips, but better. Wear on its own or over lipstick for a bolder look.

Our Editor Was a Judge of the Inaugural ‘Best of MakerPlace Awards’—Here Are Her Top Picks

ICYMI, around this time last year Michaels launched MakerPlace by Michaels, the only online marketplace offering handmade goods, classes, and how-tos from U.S.-based makers and artisans. This year, coinciding with its first anniversary, they unveiled a new annual program—The Best of MakerPlace Awards—and tapped our very own VP of Editorial Content, Candace Davison, to help select the winners.

Davison was the official judge of the inaugural awards, designed to celebrate the exceptional talents within the MakerPlace community and highlight the diverse range of skills and artistry that handmade makers bring to the platform. She was tasked with culling through a wide selection of handmade treasures to select just one standout small business in each of the 15 categories, ranging from “Best of Art” to “Most Sentimental / Tearjerker.”

The awards are not only a timely celebration for MakerPlace, but also for consumers with the holiday season fast approaching, after all. Many shoppers are looking to support small businesses and discover unique handmade gifts, with 92 percent of consumers purchasing gifts from small businesses during the holidays and nearly two-thirds (65 percent) saying it’s important to purchase items made in America.1

To encourage you to shop small this holiday season, all items sold on MakerPlace will be discounted 30 percent off as part of a special Small Business Saturday promotion from November 28 through December 3. Take a peek at the winners below, then visit www.makerplace.com to shop all the selections.

Meet the Expert

Candace Davison is the VP of Editorial Content at PureWow. She primarily covers home and food stories, but she’s also passionate about stress-testing the buzziest products on the internet, as she oversees the PureWow100 review series and our own awards programs. It’s her goal to separate the must-haves from the hype, so you don’t waste your money.

How the Winners Were Chosen

“Honestly, the talent across MakerPlace by Michaels blows me away,” says Candace. “There are such skilled artisans that it makes judging a competition like this a treat—and a challenge. I found myself carefully studying each product, the storefront and the seller’s biography, looking for the item that best fit the category while speaking to a larger cultural trend, filling a gap in the market, or offering a total surprise-and-delight moment. (You know, the kind where you didn’t realize you needed that mug, wall art or lamp in your life until you saw it—and it suddenly felt like it needed to be part of your life’s story?) And above all, I sought items you couldn’t easily find anywhere else: things that could be personalized or feel unique to the person who buys (or receives) them, things you’d cherish for years to come. Every winner here exudes a soulfulness that makes the product an instant keepsake,” she says.

Their sculptural design lets them double as art on an end table, casting a soft glow that adds warmth to the room (and flatters pretty much everyone). I love the cozy-yet-clean-lined vibe it creates, and how it nods to mushroom styles without trying to reproduce them,” says Candace.

“These textured cuffs are delicate and stunning on their own, but the true magic is being able to customize it with a message from your kid, spouse or another loved one—in their exact handwriting. It’s the type of keepsake that can give you a jolt of courage before a major meeting or presentation, or imbue a major milestone (say, a wedding or anniversary) with that much more significance,” says Candace.

“Getting your whole family to smile for a photo—eyes open—is a feat. These beautiful paper portraits help overcome that challenge with ease, and they make for the kind of wall art you’ll cherish for decades to come. The minimalist design gives them a sense of timelessness, so the art itself won’t feel dated years from now, even as they capture a specific moment in time,” says Candace.

“Ryan Stanberry’s woodworking is outstanding,” says Candace. “The black walnut and maple squares on his 11-inch chessboard look seamless, and the chess pieces themselves have a great heft and modern shape that makes them great to display and play. I appreciate that he took the care to consider every detail—down to adjustable rubber feet and felt bottoms, so the pieces don’t scratch or slip about easily—so this isn’t just a showpiece. It’s something you can really put to use and enjoy.”

“Tatjana’s crochet pets made me do a double-take. As someone who fumbles through crochet work myself, I was blown away by the craftsmanship of her Australian Shepherd dog (the speckled fur! The gleaming eyes! The softly curved ears!). The Mohair yarn adds such a realistic, cuddly touch—you just want to reach out and pet it. This would be such an incredible gift for a pet lover, especially anyone who’s recently lost a dog,” says Candace.

“Guitar and camera strap bags have been making a major comeback, and this boho spin takes things to a whole new level of fun. The detailed stitches in the owl are incredible, and so is the ability to customize it—identifying your four main colors, so the bag feels uniquely yours in the end. Talk about a statement-maker,” says Candace.

“There is so much talent in this category, but NevaehBliss stood out for its brilliantly hued set of bath bombs. They’re like modern art for your bathtub, helping you create a spa-like experience at home. It was great to learn that not only are the bath bombs made in the U.S. using natural ingredients, but—despite their vibrant colors—they’ve been tested to ensure they won’t stain your tub,” says Candace.

“Could these gorgeously embossed cards single-handedly bring back the lost art of letter-writing? Maybe. The detailed feather pattern perfectly captures the organic modernism trend, with a satisfying texture to boot,” says Candace. “These cards have a quiet sophistication that’d make them great for sending any kind of heartfelt message, from a thank you to a get well soon, to a simple ‘Hey, just thinking of you.’”

“A personalized, wooden train is such a thoughtful gift for kids, but it’s even cooler when the recipient gets to have a hand in bringing it to life,” says Candace. “I love how this train doubles as a STEM project, allowing kids to follow the instructions to build their own locomotive. It feels so aligned with the MakerPlace ethos to give a personalized, handmade gift that inspires the next generation of makers.”

Moxie and Mischief artfully blends relatable quips with fun, vintage-inspired imagery to create collages that resonate. They’re a great way to liven up a hallway, powder room or gallery wall, sparking conversation as they remind you not to take life too seriously,” says Candace.

“After admiring Pollyana Conte’s minimalist watercolor paintings, I am convinced she could reveal the charm and character of even the most ramshackle house on the block,” says Candace. “Her watercolor ornaments would make for the loveliest housewarming or holiday gift for someone who’s just moved into their own place. Can you imagine having her create one, based on a photo of your parents’ long-gone childhood home? Or a grandparents’ house, where your fondest memories were made? I’m not crying. OK, maybe I am.”
