You already love the seven-in-one multitasking machine for its ability to whip up delicious meals in record time, but now one genius blogger has discovered yet another reason to make the Instant Pot a permanent fixture on your kitchen surface.
Instant Pot home chef David Murphy recently revealed that he made his own red wine in his favorite appliance. As in, he actually converted grape juice into an alcoholic beverage.
“It’s not as hard as you might think it is to make Instant Pot wine, but it does take a little bit of patience,” he says.
How much patience? About 48 hours of cooking time plus another week out of the pot, according to his instructions. Which, when you think about it, is a lot less time to make wine than that 2014 New Zealand sauvignon blanc you’re so fond of.
To make your own Instant Pot wine, you’ll need grape juice, sugar and a packet of wine yeast. By using the Yogurt feature on your Instant Pot (and a few other tips that Murphy relays in his blog), you can apparently transform those ingredients into a wine with “hints of chocolate and dark cherries.”
We haven’t tried the recipe out ourselves but we’re definitely intrigued. And considering that we already think of our trusty Instant Pot as being pretty damn magical, we wouldn’t be surprised if this was totally delicious. Cheers.
