The 11 Best Pillows for Side Sleepers, All Tested by Editors (Who Swear These Help Them Wake Up Without Neck Pain)

As much as we all know getting at least eight hours of sleep can have a serious impact on our metabolism, immune system and overall mental health, actually getting to sleep is easier said than done. You ditch your phone an hour before bed, you’ve tried the sleepy girl mocktails—but maybe the biggest thing standing between you and a great night’s rest is what you’re resting your head on. (Science is with us on this one.)

Side sleepers, in particular, need a pillow that will properly sustain the upper body. In fact, according to Dr. Venkata Buddharaju, sleep specialist and author of Better Sleep, Happier Life, side sleepers are “likely to experience misalignment and soreness” without a supportive pillow to cradle your neck and shoulders. But with a plethora of pillows from all kinds of brands out on the market, finding the perfect thickness, support and comfort is an uphill battle.

That’s why we took it upon ourselves to test out some of the most popular pillows for side sleepers. From ultra-fluffy down material to luxurious memory foam, we’ve managed to narrow down 10 of the greatest pillows to get your best shut-eye yet.

Meet the Expert

Dr. Venkata Buddharaju is a fellowship-trained physician at the Albany Medical Center in Albany, New York. He is Board Certified in Internal Medicine, Pulmonary, Critical Care and Sleep Medicine from the American Board of Internal Medicine. PureWow consulted with him previously on sleep stories regarding the best pillows to use, and we used those insights to inform our testing criteria in this feature.

How We Chose the Best Pillows for Side Sleepers

While researching doctors’ and sleep experts’ recommendations for the type of pillow a side sleeper should have, we came up with the following criteria, which we used as a rubric while testing pillows. We took in side sleepers’ personal recommendations, and called in and tested several top-rated pillows, sleeping on them for several nights. Each pillow that made the cut had to earn rave reviews from editors while checking off these boxes:

 • Firmness level: Side sleepers will want a tall, medium-firm pillow that can keep your neck, head and spine aligned all night long. Anything too soft can press up to your nose, making it hard to breathe, and pillows that were too firm left ears feeling squished and achy.
 • Customization: Some of the pillows we tested allowed for users to increase or decrease the amount of stuffing inside. This allows you to amp up the support or softness, depending on your sleeping style.
 • Height (AKA loft): Like Dr. Buddharaju said, side sleepers tend to prefer a loftier pillow of about 5 to 6 inches tall, so we preferred picks within that range.
 • Overall comfort: While we longed how our neck and shoulders felt the next day, as well as our overall quality of sleep, we tried to appeal to a range of needs—for example, those who toss and turn may prefer a squishy down pillow, whereas those who like to a more contoured, cradling experience would appreciate memory foam, so we noted the best of each.

1. Brooklinen Mid-Plush Down Pillow

The true test of a great pillow is the one you reach for after testing has completed, when you’re surrounded by options. This humble pillow became PureWow freelancer Melissa Lee’s go-to: “At a glance, it seems pretty ordinary, but it’s the perfect mesh between support and comfort thanks to the down clusters and feather filling,” adding that it’s offered in three firmnesses, and she tested the mid-plush option.

It’s been dubbed by Brooklinen as their best-selling pillow, since the mid-plush is its most versatile option. It contains a dual-core structure with an extra-supportive inner layer of feathers, surrounded by an additional layer of down clusters. This gives it support without feeling too stiff, so your ear isn’t aching halfway through the night.

Purple’s Harmony pillow will ruin you. As in, you thought $10 pillows from Target were fine…until you spent one night on this, and now, you’re convinced you cannot sleep as well on anything else. That’s what happened to our VP of editorial’s husband, Nate, who promptly stole this pillow after a test nearly three years ago and has been sleeping on it ever since.

“We travel everywhere with it—even if it means checking a bag,” Candace Davison, VP of editorial, says. “He’s that obsessed.” Why, exactly? The pillow is constructed with temperature-neutral ventilated latex and a moisture-wicking mesh cover, both of which work together to provide a super-breathable exterior. It’s available in three heights (5.5-inches, 6.5-inches and 7.5-inches), and Purple recommends the latter two for side sleepers.

The price makes it hard to justify as our overall pick, but it’s a close second, especially since the hex grid provides squishy softness for your skull while the latex core keeps the pillow from flattening out overnight—or after years of use.

3. Eli & Elm Side Sleeper Pillow

In the realm of side sleeper pillows, there’s a whole category of curved ones, designed to fit around your shoulder while keeping your head and neck aligned. (Anyone who’s woken up with an achy neck or realized their arm has fallen asleep from their shoulder down knows how it feels when you accidentally sleep too far up on the pillow.) But are they actually better?

This style tends to be best for hardcore side sleepers who don’t shift to their stomachs or backs often throughout the night. And, out of the four we’ve tested, Eli & Elm tied with Sleep Number for top marks. Eli & Elm, in particular, earned rave reviews from hot sleepers, who felt its cotton-polyester-spandex exterior helped keep them cool throughout the night.

In terms of comfort, the latex and polyester filling is removable, so you can adjust the height and firmness to your liking—another major bonus.

If you prefer the cradling feeling of a firm pillow—as opposed to the sink-into-it feeling of something very soft—check out the Sleep Number ComfortFit. Its blend of memory foam and down alternative fibers make this a hearty pillow that doesn’t flatten a bit over time, and overall, it felt a bit firmer than the other curved pillows we tested (but not hard or stiff, thankfully). Our tester felt it had just the right height for her neck and head, helping her resist the urge to sleep with her arm under the pillow, as she used to.

The awesome thing about this pillow is that you can choose which loft you’d like (low or high), making it a great option for side sleepers. The taller height allows for side sleepers to enjoy a comfortable cradling sensation around the neck and head, while the shoulders are elevated.

The Brooklyn Bedding Talalay Latex Pillow is also made from natural materials, like hypoallergenic latex foam that conforms to the shape of your head. The exterior cotton is even organic, meanwhile, that latex interior promotes greater airflow.

6. Parachute Down Side Sleeper Pillow

While more expensive than some of the others on the list (the standard size is $160), the Parachute Down Side Sleeper Pillow is medium-density. Its 3.5-inch gusset was created to take the strain off of the neck and shoulders, making it a good option for side sleepers.

“When I tested this pillow out, I found it to be super soft. It contains 750-fill power European down, providing a cushy level of comfort,” Lee says. “Side sleepers who like to prioritize plushiness over support will definitely enjoy catching zzz’s on this pillow.”

Several editors swear by Brooklinen’s Marlow pillow—and they all confess they’re semi-side sleepers. Their love of it makes sense: The pillow features two zippers along the side, allowing you to easily adjust its firmness levels to your taste. If you flip onto your back, you can unzip one side. If you switch to your stomach, unzip both, for the lowest loft and the softest feel. It’s as easy as flipping your pillow to the cool side.

“I can’t do heavy memory foam or thin feathery numbers; I need a comfortable in-between. Marlow is just that, a solid middle ground between strength and comfort,” says PureWow Assistant Editor Delia Curtis. “Cushiony enough to lull me to sleep and hard enough where I don’t wake up with aches in my neck. It’s also super easy to re-fluff so I’m never fully parallel to the bed.”

8. Serta Perfect Sleeper Pillow

Priced at just $50 for a two-pack, the Serta Perfect Sleeper is, in the words of Davison, the “best value I’ve found.” After stocking more than half a dozen types of pillows—from down alternative to memory foam—at the Airbnb she manages, she finds that time and time again, her guests prefer these pillows over anything else. That’s largely due to the cushy, supportive feel. They have a decent height, but they’re not so plush that if you tend to sleep with your arm under your head, you won’t wake up with a crick in your neck.

If you have allergies or asthma, this is the ideal pillow for you, too. It contains an allergen protector that will keep you feeling comfortable through naps and lengthy sleeps.

9. Fluffco Down Alternative Pillow

When fashion editor Abby Hepworth tested out FluffCo pillows, she was absolutely obsessed with their quality and value. She particularly loved the FluffCo Down Alternative Pillow in the soft option (you can nab it in ‘firm’ or ‘soft,’ but after trying both, she felt that the latter comfortably fit under her head). Described as containing a “little less fluff material to give the pillow more squish,” our tester also noted that it stayed cool and supportive from the moment she got into bed.

Ah, Ostrichpillow: You excel at making atypically shaped pillows…that earn a cult following for their ergonomic design. Memory foam pillows can often be too stiff, but this bean-like design feels contoured to your head and neck. Plus, you can rotate it 90 degrees if you suddenly shift to your back or stomach, and boom! It’s now optimized to align your neck and spine once again.

“It has enough support that I don’t feel like my neck is straining at all, but is still comfy if I flop onto my back,” says PureWow Assistant Editor Natalie LaBarbera, who admits that previously, she’d used much cheaper pillows that’d cause her neck to ache. “The ergonomic design is a huge plus, and I love that it comes with a cover you can wash or you can easily put another pillowcase on top of it.”

Oh, so you want the feel of a resort pillow, even though you’re headed to your in-laws for the weekend? Or going camping? This is the pillow for you. And for Star Wars side sleepers, since it’s part of the brand’s Star Wars Home series (something you wouldn’t notice unless you looked closely at the Imperial and Republic logos imprinted on the pillow itself).

This medium-firm pillow is plush, thanks to its 100 percent polyester fiber fill, putting it on the softer, cuddlier end of the cushy-to-cradling spectrum. As a result, you’ll sink into it a bit, but not too much. It comes with a small, cylindrical bag that you can roll the pillow in, making it easy to transport (hence our pick for best to travel with). Don’t leave home without it.

Uzo Aduba Reveals What It’s Like Working with Shonda Rhimes on New Netflix Murder Mystery Series

Shonda Rhimes (who’s written some of our favorite television shows like Grey’s Anatomy) and Uzo Aduba working together on an upcoming Netflix murder mystery series? Oh, we’ll definitely be seated.

As the new brand ambassador for Colgate’s “My Smile Is My Superpower” campaign, the 43-year-old actress recently sat down with PureWow to discuss the partnership in addition to her upcoming show titled The Residence, which is the latest addition to Rhimes’s production company, Shondaland

Colgate

Created by Paul William Davies (who worked on Scandal) and executive produced by Rhimes, The Residence (which is still in production) follows a detective named Cordelia Cupp (Aduba), who is tasked with solving a mysterious murder that occurred during the worst state dinner in White House history. As Cordelia races against the clock, she tries to find the identity of the killer before it’s too late.

While playing on the classic “whodunit” trope, this dramady features a talented ensemble cast, including Giancarlo Esposito (Better Call Saul), Jane Curtin (Saturday Night Live), Jason Lee (My Name is Earl), Julian McMahon (FBI: Most Wanted, Charmed) and Ken Marino (Party Down).

When asked what it’s been like working with Rhimes on the new series, Aduba shared that it’s been a “real joy and pleasure” to watch the Inventing Anna creator’s genius behind the scenes. “[Rhimes] is a master of excellence. She is remarkably gifted and has done so much for the TV landscape in terms of story, in terms of how we see leads [and] in terms of imagination and the expansion of that for so many, both as viewers and creators. [So], it’s been a real joy and pleasure to watch her excellence on full display in our show,” she told PureWow.

Trae Patton/NBC via Getty Images

The Painkiller star went on to share why she really wanted to play a character like detective Cordelia Cupp in The Residence. She continued, “I was drawn to the thoughtfulness of the character, and how well-rounded she is. I was drawn to the scope of the world, and all of these characters that Paul [the creator] has created.”

As for what viewers can expect from the new Netflix murder mystery? While Aduba didn’t delve too deep into the details, the Orange Is the New Black alum revealed, “What I think might be exciting for viewers is [what] we think we know [about] the White House—and we think we know who runs the White House, but we really don’t. And that was exciting to see play out.” Consider us locked in.

https://www.youtube.com/embed/Cijxcgfm7Gs?si=_Bjnq41t49eDFALe

While discussing her recent partnership with Colgate, Aduba shared why she really wanted to be a part of “My Smile Is My Superpower.” She told us, “There was a time when I did not feel like a superhero hero with my smile. I didn’t smile at all when I was young. [Now], I finally found my confidence in my smile.”

Aduba added, “When I heard about Colgate’s ‘My Smile Is My Superpower’ campaign, and the beauty of gaps, I wanted to jump in and be a part of that and try and inspire young people, Gen-Z specifically, who are pursuing new smiles. They don’t think that their smile is beautiful. And I wanted to help them to know that their smile is already perfect.”

Courteney Cox’s Cauliflower Soup Recipe Is a Tasty, Cozy Way to Bid Winter Adieu

Spring has *finally* arrived. But before you start filling your calendar with alfresco dinner parties and trips to the farmers market, consider making one last soul-soothing meal before winter is officially behind us. Might we suggest Courteney Cox’s cauliflower soup?

“The easiest cauliflower soup,” Cox calls it in an Instagram video. She then chops all the ingredients, adds them to a large pot, lets the soup cook until the vegetables are soft and batch-blends it until smooth in a countertop blender.

The recipe is about as easy as homemade soup can get. You’ll only need eight ingredients (including salt) and one pot to pull it off. The directions are ridiculously simple—like, plop-everything-in-a-pot simple. Even better, it can be made vegan if you use vegetable stock instead of chicken. The rest is fresh produce, herbs and pantry staples. Read on for the details.

Ingredients

 • 2 medium heads cauliflower, cut into medium-size pieces
 • 4 ribs celery, cut into medium-size pieces
 • 1 medium white onion, cut into medium-size pieces
 • ½ bulb fennel, cut into medium-size pieces
 • 1 tablespoon fresh thyme leaves
 • 12 cups chicken or vegetable stock
 • 1 teaspoon kosher salt, plus more to taste
 • 1 tablespoon white truffle oil, plus more to taste
 • White pepper, to taste

Directions

1. Place all the ingredients, except the truffle oil and white pepper, in a large pot over high heat.

2. Bring to a boil and turn the heat down to medium-low. Cook until the vegetables are tender, 20 to 30 minutes.

3. Using an immersion blender (or a countertop blender, in batches), blend the soup until smooth and slowly drizzle in the truffle oil while blending. Season with salt and white pepper to taste, and additional truffle oil if desired.

Princess Diana’s Brother Charles Spencer Recalls the Rare Moment He Escaped from Boarding School—Thanks to the Queen

The revelations shared in Charles Spencer’s brand-new memoir, A Very Private School, about the abuse he endured at Maidwell Hall, the U.K. boarding school he was sent off to at the age of eight, are tough to read.

But in an exclusive conversation on the Royally Obsessed podcast, Princess Diana’s brother reflected back on a momentary bright spot: When his father—who was unaware of what was going on behind closed doors at Maidwell—sprung him from school for Queen Elizabeth II and Prince Philip’s 25th wedding anniversary.

Under normal circumstances, breaks from school were quite limited, Spencer describes. But Spencer—who was also Queen Elizabeth’s godson—was given special privileges to attend the royal occasion.

Fox Images/Getty Images

“It was November 1972 and it was the Queen and Prince Philip’s silver wedding anniversary,” Spencer reflects. “I was invited, but this was a bit of a problem for the school because they didn’t allow us out. But you couldn’t exactly decline an invitation from the Queen.”

So, Spencer dressed in his Sunday best—a suit. “I remember I was standing next to my father and the Queen and Prince Philip processed up the aisle of Westminster Abbey. My father noted with very great affection for Her Majesty the fact that she looked down at me and gave me an enormous smile. I worked out subsequently that I must have been the youngest person in Westminster Abbey that day because I’m about a month younger than Prince Edward. It was rather lovely and very charming of [the Queen] to do that.”

Beyond getting a momentary break from the trauma he was enduring at school, Spencer shared that this experience celebrating the Queen and Prince Philip may have also launched his journalism career. “There was an annual magazine [at Maidwell] and I wrote about [the occasion],” he says. “I later became a journalist—for a decade, I worked on NBC’s Today show as a reporter—but my very first piece of journalism was my account of that day.”

He adds, laughing: “It’s very much an eight year old’s take on a rather grand occasion. I’m not sure I nailed all the details quite correctly.”

Like we said, a bright spot in an otherwise dark time in Spencer’s life.

What Is Kelly Clarkson’s Net Worth? Get the Details

It should come as no surprise that Kelly Clarkson’s net worth (which is a cool $50 million BTW) is sky-high. The powerhouse vocalist rose to super-stardom after getting her start as a contestant on American Idol in 2002. And since then, the three-time Grammy winner has released ten albums, headlined over a dozen tours, launched her own talk show and even created a furniture line.

While speaking with Access Hollywood, Clarkson, 41, got candid about balancing her successful career with motherhood and said, “I get so inspired, so I just want to make everything happen. I’m so excited about everything, and it’s hard. I don’t think time management is my forte, so I have people to help me kind of accomplish that. But there are definitely days where you’re a normal mom and you’re like, ‘Why did I choose to do it all?'”

Fortunately, the proud mom and Jill of All Trades is at the top of her game, and she’s set to co-host the opening ceremony at the 2024 Paris Olympics with Peyton Manning and Mike Tirico. But inquiring minds want to know: How exactly did she make her fortune? Keep reading for details on Kelly Clarkson’s net worth.

1. What Is Kelly Clarkson’s Net Worth?

Astrid Stawiarz/Getty Images

According to Celebrity Net Worth, The American Idol alum is currently worth $50 million, thanks to her music career, her self-titled talk show and other business ventures. Her financial success earned her a spot on multiple Forbes lists, including the Top-Earning American Idol stars of 2011, 2012, 2014 and 2015.

2. How Much Did She Make on The Voice

Trae Patton/NBC/Getty Images

Celebrity Net Worth estimates that Clarkson, who joined the show as a coach in its fourteenth season, made $560,000 for each episode of The Voice. This equals a total of $14 million per season, but the star likely began with a different starting salary and got a pay upgrade as she continued working on the show.

While speaking with USA Today in 2023, Clarkson opened up about her reason for leaving The Voice after nine seasons. She said, “Full disclosure, I put on a smile a lot of those times, because I was struggling a lot in my personal life. I’ve learned a lot about what I’m capable of handling, and also what you should not handle. That was me saying ‘bye’ to The Voice and having this big move. I love that family, but I was like, ‘I’m struggling. I can’t smile anymore. I don’t feel like smiling.’”

3. How Much Does Clarkson Make on Her Talk Show?

Weiss Eubanks/NBCUniversal via Getty Images

Her earnings from the show haven’t been made public, but according to Us Weekly, court documents from Clarkson and Brandon Blackstock’s divorce revealed that her monthly salary was $1.9 million in 2021. This total included her talk show and her gig on The Voice.

At the time, a source told the outlet, “Kelly is renegotiating her talk show contract and wants a substantial increase.”

The “Stronger” singer’s variety talk show, which premiered in September 2019, earned her seven Daytime Emmy Awards. While discussing the show’s success in an interview with Howard Stern, she said, “Honestly, I did not think the TV show was going to do anything. I did not think anything. I literally just made a deal with NBC because I loved doing The Voice, and I literally didn’t think it was going to be what it is.”

4. How Much Did She Earn From Her Music & Tours?

Paras Griffin/Getty Images

Following her victory on American Idol, Clarkson released ten studio albums, sold over 25 million copies worldwide and snagged several accolades, including three Grammys, four American Music Awards and two Academy of Country Music Awards.

While discussing her latest studio album, Chemistry, with NPR, she said, “I kind of gauged which songs were going to make the album with what was already out there, without me having any control—whether it be court documents or whether people knew certain things, or what they thought they knew. So much was public. So I kind of gauged what I would allow people to get involved in. And I picked songs that I felt weren’t so exact for me. It could be relatable to many people.”

In March 2023, Clarkson announced her Las Vegas residency, Chemistry: An Intimate Evening with Kelly Clarkson, which, according to Billboard, earned her $10 million. The outlet also reported that, so far, she earned a total revenue of $60.7 million from all of her concerts.

These include her highest-grossing Meaning of Life Tour, which made $17.5 million from 28 sold-out shows in 2019. Additionally, her Addicted Tour in 2006 grossed $9.1 million, and her 2004 Breakaway Tour, $9.7 million.

5. What About Her Furniture Collection?

Fun fact: Clarkson made history as Wayfair’s first-ever celebrity brand ambassador. In 2022, the singer launched her own furniture line called Kelly Clarkson Home. It features dining room essentials, kitchen decor, bedding sets and more.

In October 2023, she announced her latest exclusive collection, which was inspired by her own home. She wrote on Instagram, “Are y’all ready for something fun (and cozy)? Say hello to my new Montana Collection by Kelly Clarkson Home at Wayfair. Think: distressed details and sunset hues for just the right amount of rustic.”

6. How Much Did Clarkson Make from Her Books?

Jim Spellman/Getty Images

In addition to being a TV personality, singer, songwriter and brand ambassador, Clarkson is also an author. In 2016, she published her first children’s book, River Rose and the Magical Lullaby, which tells the story of a young girl who embarks on a magical adventure after hearing her mom’s special lullaby.

While speaking with Publisher’s Weekly, Clarkson confirmed that her daughter inspired the picture book. She said, “I wrote the lullaby for River before the book ever existed, and I do sing it to her every night. When I started thinking about putting the stories together, I thought it would be cute to have the lullaby be a sort of magical device—whenever the lullaby appears something magical happens. The whole book was very unexpected yet organic.”

In 2017, the artist followed up with River Rose and the Magical Christmas, where River and her dog head off to the North Pole. Clarkson wrote a full song to accompany the holiday-themed book, called “Christmas Eve.” She told Harper Children’s, “She’s at such a fun age….It’s a fun time for kids and Christmas. And she just gets so excited about it and I thought it would be a fun book for her to get to read.”

Her earnings from book sales are unknown, but her first book debuted at number seven on The New York Times best sellers list for children’s picture books.

7. Did Clarkson’s Divorce Affect Her Net Worth?

Christopher Polk/Getty Images

When Clarkson and Blackstock finalized their divorce in 2022, People confirmed that the singer would pay her ex-husband $1.3 million, as well as $45,600 per month in child support for their two children, River and Remington. Fortunately, her monthly payments ended in January 2024.

A source told Us Weekly, “Kelly is feeling relieved that her spousal support to Brandon has come to an end. She’s been ready for this for a while now and is so happy her payments to Brandon will be complete. It’s so nice knowing that this chapter of her life can close with the new year. Kelly’s looking at this as a fresh start, and she couldn’t be happier for a clean slate in 2024.”

As for their real estate, Kelly transferred a five percent ownership stake of her $17.8 million Montana ranch to Blackstock in 2022. Per USA Today, the documents state, “Brandon’s separate property ownership interest in the Warren Peak Ranch is 5.12%. The parties agree that Brandon’s 5.12% ownership interest in the Warren Peak Ranch is $908,800.”

Paris Hilton Shares Rare Childhood Photos (and Mom Kathy’s ’80s Updo Steals the Show)

Paris Hilton never disappoints when it comes to IG posts of her family.

On March 13, the star’s mom, Kathy Hilton, celebrated her 65th birthday. In honor of her mother’s special day, Paris posted a series of photos on IG, all of them of the socialite and her mom throughout the years. One vintage photo in particular caught our eye (the second slide of the post) of Paris with her mom and sister, Nicky Hilton.

In the photo, the Hilton sisters are children and sitting on either side of Kathy, each dressed in a pale pink dress. Their mom sits between them sporting one of the most fabulous ’80s hairstyles we’ve seen. See the full post down below.

Paired with the slideshow was a lengthy sweet message from Paris. She wrote, “Happy Birthday to the OG Queen, my mom @KathyHilton! Mom, your resilience and compassion have taught me everything I know about navigating life with a smile, a heart full of love and a touch of sparkle…You’ve always been my rock, my inspiration, and the coolest mom anyone could ever wish for On your special day, I just want to say thank you for being you—genuine, loving, and simply irreplaceable…”

Not only is her mom sporting an amazing updo, but she also dons a dress in a dark rosy hue and complimentary gold jewelry. Dare we say Kathy was in her mob wife era?

Great hair seems to run in the Hilton fam. At the start of the month, Hilton posted yet another throwback, but this time it was of her grandmother, Marilyn. The post features black and white shots of her grandma’s early life, plus, adorable images of her and Paris. The first photo of Marilyn is her sitting at a dining table in a gown and modeling an old Hollywood glam updo.

Paris’s caption revealed that her daughter London’s middle name is Marilyn, a sweet tribute to her grandmother.

Prince Harry Reveals Why He Never Should’ve Watched Meghan Markle’s Love Scenes on ‘Suits’

Prince Harry’s wife, Meghan Markle, is widely known for playing Rachel Zane in the procedural drama Suits. But according to the Duke of Sussex, 39, he didn’t enjoy watching Markle, 42, be intimate with Patrick J. Adams (who plays Mike Ross), even if they were acting.

Chris Jackson/Getty Images

In a newly resurfaced excerpt from his memoir, Spare, Prince Harry discussed the downside of Markle’s acting career. The royal revealed that he made “the mistake of Googling and watching some of her love scenes online.”

He continued, “I’d witnessed her and a castmate mauling each other in some sort of office or conference room… It would take electric-shock therapy to get those images out of my head. I didn’t need to see such things live.”

Mike Coppola/Getty Images

Prince Harry admitted that these intimate scenes were often monitored by the palace, which affected the writing process. “The show writers were frustrated, because they were often advised by the Palace comms team to change lines of dialogue, what her character would do, how she would act,” he said.

The royal also revealed that his brother, Prince William, and his sister-in-law, Kate Middleton, were big fans of the show. “Willy and Kate explained that they were regular—nay, religious—viewers of Suits,” he wrote. “All this time I’d thought Willy and Kate might not welcome Meg into the family, but now I had to worry about them hounding her for an autograph.”

It’s safe to say that Prince Harry learned his lesson.

Princess Eugenie celebrated turning 34 with the ones she loves most: her family.

On March 24, the royal mom of two shared a brand-new photo of herself holding her son Ernest (who she welcomed with her husband back in June 2023) on Instagram. While rocking a gray sweater with a cream headband, the 34-year-old princess smiles and lifts her 9-month-old baby, who is also sporting a cute mini sweater with blue trousers.

Eugenie wrote in the caption, “The best gift of all are my boys..so on this birthday I’m cherishing family and loved ones [red heart emojis].”

Eugiene’s followers on Instagram flooded the comments section with happy birthday messages. One supporter wrote, “Hope you enjoyed your birthday with your loved ones. Best wishes!” Another said, “Hope you had a great day with your boys.”

This mother-son-photo comes over a month after Eugiene and her husband, Jack Brooksbank, 37, celebrated their oldest son August’s third birthday

On February 9, Eugenie posted a celebratory photo slideshow on her personal IG page. The first slide of her post features a snap of Eugenie sitting next to her son August sharing a laugh. Meanwhile, the second pic shows the proud mom kissing the bday boy on the cheek. Finally, the third slide features a heartwarming moment with Eugenie holding her two boys in her arms.

“Happy 3rd Birthday to our dearest Augie,” she captioned the post. “Forever a force of nature and forever giggling with you.”

As we mentioned, Eugenie and Brooksbank welcomed their second baby boy in June 2023. In an Instagram post shared on June 5, 2023, the royal wrote in the caption, “Jack and I wanted to share the news that we had our little boy, Ernest George Ronnie Brooksbank on 30th May 2023 at 8.49 weighing 7.1lbs.”

Sephora
https://howl.me/clUj6adbss9
Patrick Ta
$70

This versatile palette offers the ultimate contour for your eyes, making it Carr’s top pick for warm palettes. She suggests using the two cream bases to sculpt your peepers and create “major dimension” before sweeping on the powders to take your look from an upgraded everyday face to one that’s event-worthy. Reviewers also say the cream shadows can be used as an eyeliner with an angled brush to create a defined cat eye.

Chanel
$70

This quad eyeshadow palette is like jewelry for the eyes—and consider us dazzled. That’s because it was actually designed to emulate the jewel tones of Gabrielle “Coco” Chanel’s Byzantine jewelry collection, from the vibrant shades of green and burgundy to the hammered gold packaging, which is meant to evoke the look of a gold bracelet. According to both experts, shades of greens (albeit a more emerald tone), as well as crimson are great choices to add to your makeup look.

Too Faced

$54

We never thought we’d find an eyeshadow palette that smells like our favorite breakfast item, but now that it exists, we don’t know how we lived without it. Inspired by maple syrup pancakes, this palette isn’t just about the yummy scent; the eyeshadows are phenomenal as well. It features 18 warm and buttery shades (and some of Carr’s recommended purple hues) with fun names like “Breakfast in Bed,” “Brunch Bubbles” and “Kiss My Griddle.” As one reviewer shares, “The shadows are very pigmented, easy to blend and the shimmers are just so gorgeous and easy to use.”

4. Kosas Undressed Eyeshadow Palette

Best Clean

Kosas
https://howl.me/clUkRdv7Cnr
Kosas
$40

Crafted with skincare ingredients like natural cucumber extract, the eyeshadow palette aims to soothe sensitive skin above and around eyes. The shadows are also free of parabens, phthalates, formaldehyde and more. While I (Anna) can’t say my eyelids felt much different after trying it, the shadow does sweep on smoothly. I also found that it packed a punch as far as pigment was concerned (though to be fair, I have über-fair skin). The shade also makes a difference: “Hint” is pretty tough to see, as it’s meant to be a neutral base, but “Peek” and “Gaze” offer a lot more bang for your buck. My only complaint is that this palette definitely leans more on the matte side, and the shadows can be quite difficult to remove (though I suppose this could also be a pro when considering longevity).

5. Charlotte Tilbury The Beautyverse Palette

Best Bright Shades

Charlotte Tilbury
https://howl.me/clUkZDbylgz
Charlotte Tilbury
$75

When a nude palette feels a little too basic, this Charlotte Tilbury pick is sure to kick your look up a notch. Sure, it has your warm suedes and deep chocolate browns, but they’re balanced out by a set of more sparkly pinks and lilacs, making for a nice overall selection. After trying it, I like that the colors are highly buildable—you won’t have any “Mimi from Drew Carey” moments. Regardless of how vibrant the colors look in the palette, you can make them as light or as dark as you choose. In fact, some of the lighter metallics may actually be *too* subtle for those with more fair skin tones without quite a few passes over the lid, but the purple hues pack a serious punch when layered. You may experience some minimal fallout from the glitter, but we think it’s worth the cleanup.

We love that it includes both shimmery and matte finishes, so you can amp up your look or dial it down, and reviewers say “these shades blend like a dream,” so you know that your look will be flawless, even if you have an accidental smudge. It’s also cruelty-, paraben- and mineral-free.

Searching for a splurge-worthy palette? Look no further than this Pat McGrath pick. From the collectible packaging you’ll want to leave on display to the velvet mattes and astral shimmers within, this palette comes highly recommended by many. Yes, it’s the most expensive one on the list, but reviewers say its worth the price because the shadows are highly pigmented with a satin finish that lasts all day—particularly when it comes to those ultra-warm terracottas and deep plums on the left. “This is so stunning! Her special shimmers are incredible [and] the mattes blend like a dream. Plus, I have had my current look on for nine hours and there is absolutely no creasing!” shares one Sephora shopper.

What to Consider When Buying a Warm Eyeshadow Palette

 • Figure Out Your Undertone. If you tend towards silver jewelry, you likely have a cool undertone. And if you gravitate towards gold, you probably have a warm undertone. Look good in both? You have a more of a neutral undertone.
 • Take Your Skin Tone into Account. Aside from undertone, considering your natural complexion can help narrow down the shades that work best for you. If you have fair skin, look at earthy tones (i.e., taupe, rose and plum). If you have tan or olive skin, check out deep hues like bronze and rose gold, and for darker skin tones, check out vibrant shades like metallics, burgundy and gold.

What Are Warm Eyeshadow Colors?

Orlowska recommends taupe browns, coppers and sage greens, using neutral matte shadows as a base and adding a touch of shimmer on top to brighten up the eye contour. Meanwhile, Carr is a fan of deep purples (like burgundy and plum), navy, rich oranges and browns (think chestnut, crimson red and maroons).

Which is the Best Professional Eyeshadow Palette?

For a contoured, sculpted look that lasts, Carr loves to use the Patrick Ta Major Dimension III Eyeshadow Palette ($70). Meanwhile, Orlowska turns to the Cle De Peau Eye Color Quad ($55) in “Beach Pebbles” or “Sundried Driftwood,” which she says are both very easy to blend, gives a flawless natural depth to the eye and mixes well with other warm colors.

How Do I Choose the Right Eyeshadow Colors for My Skin Tone?

Once you figure out your undertone, it can be easier to choose colors that work best for your complexion. For warm undertones, colors like gold, orange and red can add warmth to the skin, while blues, greens and purples work best for those with cooler undertones. And for the neutral squad, you can dabble in any color.

Prince Harry Says the Royal Fam Once Tried to Get Kate Middleton to Change the Spelling of Her Name

Prince Harry previously shared rare details about personal conversations within the royal family—including an interesting piece of royal trivia involving Kate Middleton potentially changing the spelling of her name.

In a newly resurfaced excerpt from his best-selling memoir, Spare, the Duke of Sussex, 39, shared a fascinating story: When Princess Catherine, 42, joined the family back in 2010 after getting engaged to Prince William, her name was an important topic of conversation.

Danny Martindale/WireImage

According to Prince Harry, King Charles, 75, and Queen Camilla, 76, thought that there may be too many royal names that start with the letter “C,” including their own. “[T]here were already two royal cyphers with a C and a crown above: Charles and Camilla,” he wrote. “It would be too confusing to have another.”

The Princess of Wales’s full birth name is Catherine Elizabeth Middleton. However, King Charles and Queen Camilla suggested that she could change the spelling of her first name to “Katherine.” That way, her royal cypher would have a “K,” versus a “C.”

Prince Harry added, “Make it Katherine with a K, they suggested.”

Jeff Spicer/Getty Images

However, it seems that she didn’t take their advice, because she now goes by Princess Catherine (not Princess Katherine). And we can’t imagine it any other way.
